REDEFINING LEADERSHIP / A new paradigm

At a time of increasing anxiety about environmental, economic and social sustainability there is a need for all organisations to adopt more sustainable practices. Successful leaders now must be technically capable, have people skills that inspire strongly motivated individuals and teams – and respond to the complexity that is driven by global systems.

The new leadership is characterised by a more flexible, collaborative and intuitive style. It requires a strong understanding of relationships in three overlapping spheres – with self, others and the planet. The new leadership paradigm is shifting our conventional thinking away from just a single leader, in a position of authority, managing the status quo, to redefining leadership as being about embracing change and applying to any person within the organisation.

Inspired people who feel valued and professionally secure will be more inclined to take initiative and assume greater responsibility. The new paradigm requires Chief Executives, Directors and Senior Managers to encourage answers from their entire workforce and their stakeholders – leading to genuine diversity, creativity and adaptation.

Transforming an organisation and its leadership style takes time. Aligning leadership behaviours to this new paradigm requires a commitment to ongoing learning and professional intervention. The Partnership is a qualified leadership development group that offers a range of human development programs focused on redefining leadership styles across all organisational levels from Chief Executives to team leaders.
